Deleting Daybook Preferences
A useful first step when troubleshooting problems
As you use your Daybook software, the server gradually downloads screen layouts and other pieces of code to your computer. Sometimes these can become corrupted and cause your particular machine to malfunction.
If you are experiencing problems, then you should delete the relevant files on your computer and see whether this solves the problem. It is a simple, quick job.
MAC PROCEDURE - OS 9
When you log in, note the name of the server database you are using.
When you are advised to do so, or are having problems:-
* Close down your Daybook client application
* Click on the startup volume in the top right hand corner of the Desktop
* Open System Folder (HINT - click on NAME at top to order alphabetically then key in S which will jump to S)
* Open Preferences folder
* Open 4D folder
* Look for the folder with the same name as that when you logged in
* Put this folder in the trash
NB If you are ever advised to ditch your .res and .rex files, the above procedure achieves this.
MAC PROCEDURE - OS X
This procedure is similar to the one for OS 9, except that you will find the folder to delete as follows:
* Click on the startup volume in the top right hand corner of the Desktop
* Open Library
* Open Application Support
* Open 4D folder
* Now locate the correct folder and drag it to the Trash
WINDOWS 2000 AND XP PROCEDURE
As with the Mac procedure above, note the name of the Daybook software you are working with.
* Close down your Daybook client application
* Select My Computer
* Select C drive (may be called Local Disk)
* Select WINNT (or Windows in previous versions)
* Select 4D Folder
* Find the version you were working on as noted when you entered the application
* Delete .res and .rex files
