A `Sneak Peek' at Daybook Enterprise Version 6's Diary
- by Steve Gibson, MD of Daybook Ltd -
Upgraded,
reworked and with superior functionality, the long-awaited, version
6 of Daybook Enterprise, is soon to be unveiled. In keeping with
last monthās promise to sneak you yet more information about our
soon-to-be-released package, this month we are giving you an exclusive
insight into the innovative diary function of this advanced piece
of software. One of our usersā most frequent requests has been
to have a graphical diary interface * such as those used by Microsoft
Outlook or Entourage. Due to popular demand, we are pleased to
announce that this will be included in Enterprise 6.
What's
new in this version?
Since
it was first released, Enterprise has had an integrated diary
environment, for faster, more effective working. Events, tasks
and appointments appear as panes in a single window and can be
quickly navigated, using daily, weekly or monthly views. Hierarchal
lists mean that you can quickly collapse and expand lists of data.
At the same
time, the functional diary listings, derived from Modulus, are
still on hand, should you prefer to use them. Diary organisers
often display the days of the week in columns going across the
page, in a weekly view, and the days of the month in a grid, so
that you can see the whole month at a glance. As this was one
of our most sought-after feature enhancements, and, since we try
to include functions that clients request whenever possible, we
did just that.
So, in Enterprise
6, the user wzill have the option of extending the diary, so that
they can move between the hierarchal lists and enhanced graphical
views.
You will also be able to switch between the split window view,
which displays details of the currently selected record in the
pane on the right, and a full-window display.
Here
are some of the other outstanding features of the Enterprise 6
diary; most of them, again, have been added in response to user
demand:
Task,
event and appointment scheduling
The
main diary window shows you a list of tasks, events and appointments,
by day, week or month. Clicking on one of them displays full details
in the right-hand pane. There are several ways to view your diary
data and version 6 allows you to choose the one that suits you
best.
Business
alerts
The
Enterprise 6 diary will generate reminders for you. It will even
allow you to schedule procedures that need to be run on the database.
Group
calendaring and collaboration
Workgroups
will be able to view the diaries of other people in the group
and quickly switch between them.
Resource
scheduling
You
can also use the diary to book rooms, reserve equipment and schedule
non-human resources of any type. Inanimate objects need diaries
too!
Workflow
sequences
If
you put a client appointment in the diary, it will automatically
generate a confirmation email and schedule the preparation time
the day before. When you get back and close the appointment in
your diary, Enterprise 6 will produce a follow-up letter and schedule
a follow-up phone call seven days later. That is just an example
of its functionality * the diary is fully customisable to ensure
that Enterprise 6 helps you work in the best way for your business,
your employees and your clients.
Itās
scriptable
Moreover,
in keeping with the rest of the Enterprise 6 suite, the diary
is fully programmable. Consequently, it can automate and mirror
your business processes, with the result that you save time and
money, work more effectively, maintain quality standards and lessen
reliance on staff training. With its many diary views, true multi-user
capability and complete integration with the rest of your system,
the Enterprise 6 diary is an outstanding solution for everyone
who needs to control their daily activities. We hope that you
have found this brief preview helpful.
