news, tips and features to help you get the best for your business
June 2005
Greetings!
Where there's a will, there is a way. Despite all
the things that conspired to prevent this e-letter
seeing the light of day, we got there in the
end!
We hope that you find it useful,
informative and maybe even a little bit enjoyable.
In this edition we show you how to power search your
database, help you get the cash in by empowering
your credit controllers - and there's a new feature,
Under the Hood, which we are introducing by request,
in which we give an overview of one
Enterprise 6 option. And of course there's
news.
In this Tip of the Month we show you how to get the
most out of the powerful Daybook search technology
in Enterprise 6 and Modulus.
The ability to do searches that range across your
entire business data, analyse it, extract
statistics and generate highly targeted management
reporting, is one the key benefits of having a
truly integrated system. It has always been a
compelling reason to choose a Daybook system, and
still keeps it at the top of the
league.
Well, on the Enterprise 6
front, a lot of it went into a host of minor
enhancements to 6.1.
You can now set File
States on Purchase Orders. This ability has been
present on Sales Orders for many years and we have
added it to POs at the request of clients who
needed a more sophisticated control system for
purchasing.
Deposit refunds and reversing of receipts have now
both been enhanced, and a bug that could cause
erroneous postings fixed.
We are also in the final stages of our
development and testing of the Credit Card Online
Authorisation module.
White Paper available
The biggest decision for anyone considering
installing a business management system is now the
subject of a White Paper.
Prevailing
orthodoxy says
that you find best-of-breed of products and stitch
them together. The unorthodox - and that includes us
- say something quite different.
If you have to handle a variety of pricing
structures in sales or procurement - or even if you
want to record the various deals that you have
struck with clients and suppliers, then you need a
system to help you.
This month we examine the Enterprise 6 Price Matrix
and what benefits it can bring. The PM is a feature
of both Modulus and Enterprise.
There is a new a QuickStart
guide on the Caliban website, which also doubles
as an overview for anyone wanting to find out about
the system.
Caliban's 'tokens' system has now
been completed. Tokens are simple tags that you put
into your pages and template. They access Caliban
data. They can also give you access to some basic
programming functions, without your having to be a
programmer.
Caliban Components are active now too. Components
are an important element of what we have come to
term Calibanisation.
1. On the web content is king, and Caliban is the
quickest way around to add content.
2. You can manage your site without being
technically literate.
3. Caliban pages make you money - they
bring in business by getting found.
4. You find out what works. Caliban tracks
who is finding you - and how.
5. Caliban does not have to replace your
existing website - it enhances it.
Why not try it out? Sign up now for a free 60-day
trial of Caliban
And remember - if you want help setting up Caliban
for your purposes, then just pick up the phone and
call us on 020 7371 7161 or email support@calibanweb.com
Macros are a very neat way of being able to add in
exactly the sort of functionality you need into
Enterprise or Modulus. And very often the really
simple ones are those that make a big difference.
Here is a macro aimed at credit controllers. It
simply brings up a list of unpaid overdue invoices.
We're looking for partners
We are currently looking for partners to work with
us on extending the user base of Enterprise 6,
Publisher and Caliban.
There are various
classes of
partner from referrer to reseller. We are
especially interested in individuals and
organisations who could take these highly flexible
products and work with us to present them to
specific markets.
If you would like to investigate the possibilities
further, please call Steve Gibson on 020 7371 7161,
or email
And finally...
Once again, we invite you to check out Daybook
Publisher. If you need to publish catalogues, price
lists,
classified ads - anything that starts with a set of
data in fact - then check out our online Publisher
overview tutorials.
They are quick to read and self explanatory and give
you an excellent idea of how Publisher works and how
much it can speed up the longwinded process of
getting data to paper or web. And there is always a
demo
database and sample data
to go with them.
It will only take a few minutes to investigate -
they could be some of the most valuable minutes you
ever spend!
