It’s
only a few weeks now until the release of Enterprise 6, Daybook’s
new-look, multi-volume business management system. The project
represents the culmination of a huge amount of development over
several years. We have given it a new look and feel, added a host
of new features and worked very hard to make it a more intuitive
and rewarding user experience, so that users can quickly and easily
access the tremendous power that lies at the heart of the Enterprise
6 database engine.
Daybook Announces Release of
Daybook Publisher Version 5.5
Most
organisations publish promotional literature in one form or another, whether
it be an online company newsletter (such as this one), or a company
price list, brochure or catalogue. Newly-launched Daybook Publisher
(version 5.5) helps companies to seamlessly produce all of the
above, and more, in an easy-to-use, time-saving way.
All
of you who know Daybook developer Balinder Walia will be pleased
to learn that he is going to be a new dad this November. A web
and 4D expert, Balinder joined the Daybook Team in 2002 and quickly
established himself as a popular figure. We are hoping that this
latest addition to the Walia household may, in due time, join
the Daybook team as well!
What Next?
Below,
by popular demand, is an overview of some of our development plans,
outlining several things that customers can expect in the shorter
term.
In August,
the company intends to substantially re-work the Daybook Enterprise
diary interface and hopes to have these major improvements completed
and tested in time for the release of Version 6. More news on
this will follow in the next newsletter.
Besides working
on improvements to Daybook Enterprise, Daybook will also be putting
the finishing touches to Daybook Publisher 5.5 in time for its
official release in September 2004.
Although
Daybook Enterprise already has some of the best reporting facilities
of any package on the market, we intend to make that power even
more accessible to users and will be working on this from September.
Meanwhile,
the company will be pressing vigorously ahead with its web-based
project, code-named Oberon.
Customisation Bundles
Also
in September, of interest to Modulus and Enterprise users, we
will be starting work on customisation bundles: namely, kits consisting
of macros, sequences, diary codes, and other ‘configuration
items' that make your business management system sit up and perform
tricks.
The ability
to customise your system to work in the way you need it to has
always been one of the most compelling reasons to buy a Daybook
product and we intend to capitalise on this strength. So, if you
have a ‘wish list’ of things that you would like your
system to be able to do, then let us know.
Email your
suggestions to steveg@daybook.co.uk,
providing full details of what it is that you want your system
to achieve.
Talk To Us!
We
would like to remind customers that we are always eager to receive
feedback. If you have any suggestions for changes or enhancements
to any Daybook product, or if there is anything that would make
your life easier (and is in our power to change) then please take
the time to let us know.
Either email:
support@daybook.co.uk
or call
Daybook Customer Support on: 020 7371 7161.
Beta Testing Volunteers
Many
thanks to those of you who expressed an interest in ‘beta
testing’ Enterprise 6 following our last bulletin. Below
is a little more information on the subject.
The idea
behind beta testing is to take a release that is well advanced
in terms of the development cycle and to put it through its paces.
This testing forms a crucial part of any quality assurance programme.
Finally,
please note that the 4D 6.7 product line will shortly be discontinued.
The entire 4D 6.7 product line will be withdrawn from sale with
effect from October 1, 2004. There will also be no more engineering
support for 4D 6.7.
If you are
using 4D 6.7 and believe you may require additional licenses at
some future date then you must make arrangements to purchase them
before September 30, 2004. Please call to discuss your requirements
on: 020 7371 7161, or email support@daybook.co.uk.
Tip Of The Month
This
month’s tip shows you how to produce a report of all the
diary entries for a particular company for a particular period
of time…
Want
to see one of our products demo’d, but can't afford the
time to visit us? Well, as the proverb has it, where there is
a will there is (always) a way. Depending on your requirements,
we can come to you; alternatively, we can conduct some demonstrations
over the Internet.
If in doubt
contact us on 020 7371 7161 or email info@daybook.co.uk
to find out what we can do for your company.
