    Installing 4D Client

We thought it would be timely, with the new Tiger-friendly releases of 4D , 2003.7 and 2004.2 to give a some simple guidelines about installing 4D Client.

If you are installing a Windows version, the first thing to do is to configure the memory allocation. To do this you will need to use the 4D Customizer Plus, which came with your 4D software. Launch this programme and go to the File menu and open you 4D Client software. Then use the Customizer to configure the application's memory to 20 blocks of 10,000k.

Next load the 4D Client software onto your computer. When doing this is it important to make sure that the directory/folder in which it is installed has read/write permissions enabled for the user. Bear in mind that, when you are loading the software on, you are probably logged on as the Administrator, and your permissions will be different.

Without read/write permissions, the 4D Client will launch. However, under certain circumstances our software needs to write to the same location as the programme, in which case an error will occur without these permissions enabled.
