    - By Daybook Technical Support Team -

    If you have problem when using any Daybook product the support team will need to ask you some questions. This does not imply that you are doing something wrong. They just need to eliminate possibilities so that they can deal effectively with your query.
    You can help by carrying out some procedures before reporting an error, which will speed up the time it takes to resolve your call.

    (1) To make sure that the problem is not specific to the MACHINE on which you are working try exactly the same procedure on another machine if possible.

    (2) If the procedure works on the other machine, do the following.
    a) Delete your preferences (Appendix One)
    b) Switch off
    c) Switch on again (if you are on a Mac additionally zap your PRAM by holding down Apple-Alt-P-R while starting up - and release after you have heard a second chime)
    d) Turn off all other applications to ensure that there is not some interference between packages
    e) Install a fresh copy of the 4D Client software
    f) Try using Enterprise again to see if the fault persists.
    g) Make a careful note of any error message (or even better get a screen capture of the error message)

    (3) If none of the above work reboot the server to make sure it is not a server error

    (4) Make sure the problem is not specific to YOU - no criticism implied just worth eliminating
    a) Get someone else to carry out the procedure on your machine

    APPENDIX ONE

    MAC PROCEDURE

    When you are advised to do so, or are having problems:-

    => Open System Folder (HINT - click on NAME at top to order alphabetically then key in S which will jump to S)
    => Open Preferences folder
    => Open 4D folder
    => Look for the folder with the same name as that when you logged in
    => Put this folder in the trash

    NB You may at some point be advised to ditch your .res and .rex files. The above procedure achieves this.
