Leaves US to Spearhead Daybook Web Development Project
Daybook has
appointed techno-whiz Rollo Carpenter to lead the development
of its e-business engine Intercom in a project code-named Oberon.
The original
brains behind much of Daybook’s software including Modulus,
Daybook’s earliest version of integrated support system
Daybook Enterprise, Rollo returns to the company after spending
five years in California as Chief Technical Officer at web-delivered
business solutions provider Bizfinity Inc.
The Oberon
project will bring Daybook and the Internet together in a highly
flexible and innovative way. Rollo explains: “Soon you’ll
be logging in from a browser near you, to access your data, to
configure a web store and much more.
“I am
thrilled to be returning to Daybook to lead this exciting new
project. During my time in California, I gained a great deal of
valuable IT project-managing experience, which will enable me
to successfully lead the development team for Daybook’s
Intercom e-business engine.”
From
Shakespeare to Daybook
Steve Gibson,
MD of Daybook, adds: “We are delighted to have Rollo back
on board as he already has a deep understanding of the technology
behind Modulus and the Daybook Enterprise suite. What’s
more, the team is really excited at the prospect of him applying
the expertise he has gained in the US to drive the Oberon project
forward.
Steve explains
how the project got its name: “The name Oberon came about
as we often use the names of Shakespearean characters as project
names. It sounds serious but has been the cause of much hilarity.
Oberon comes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which seemed
appropriate as the play involves things like magic and spider’s
webs. Oberon won against stiff competition from the names Peaseblossom,
Bottom, and Puck. We think we made the right decision!”
